MATERA TIBETAN BRIDGE TOUR
Duration: 2 hours and 30 min
Meeting point: Porta Pistoia
Starting from Porta Postergola in Sasso Caveoso and following trail 406, accompanied by an Environmental Hiking Guide, you "descend" towards the Gravina stream surrounded by typical local vegetation. You cross the pedestrian walkway, one meter wide and suspended 9 meters above the Gravina stream, known as the Tibetan Bridge - one of the main attractions for hikers, even less experienced ones. Before climbing back up to the starting point, a short stop allows you to admire the suggestive landscape while the guide reveals all its secrets. At the end of the path, you will find yourself on the vast Murgia plateau facing the Sassi of Matera, which constitutes the Regional Park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera, also declared a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2007. It is a vast rocky hilly area marked by deep karst fissures called: "Gravine". The spectacle that appears before your eyes is truly breathtaking, as the entire town of Sassi appears in all its splendor across the gorge.
